Goldrop

The Goldrop past producing mine

Is located approximately 16 kilometers southwest of Princeton, British Columbia, near the confluence of Fourteen Mile and Whipsaw Creeks. Situated within the Similkameen Mining Division, the site lies in a region historically known for its rich mineral deposits, particularly within the Upper Triassic Nicola Group volcanic and sedimentary rocks.

Geology & Mineralization

The Goldrop occurrence is hosted in feldspar porphyritic andesite with minor volcanic breccia of the Nicola Group. These rocks occasionally contain zones of intense calcite veining, up to several meters wide, accompanied by minor silicification and chloritization. Mariposite is also present. The mineralization within these calcite vein zones includes massive pyrite and sphalerite, with minor chalcopyrite. This mineralization strikes west and dips steeply south. Diamond drilling has encountered such mineralization over widths of 0.5 to 2 meters. Drill core from one hole averaged 0.145 grams per tonne gold, 0.77% copper, and 8.85% zinc over 1.83 meters. Another hole analyzed 5.59 grams per tonne gold, 0.40% copper, and 7.63% zinc over 0.50 meters. (minfile)

Production History

Subsequent exploration included diamond drilling between 1988 and 1990, totaling 581 meters across four holes. These efforts aimed to further delineate the mineralized zones and assess the property’s potential for additional resources.(minfile)

In 1973 and 1974, the Goldrop mine produced a total of 345 tonnes of ore, yielding (minfile)

  • 12.9 grams per tonne gold
  • 130.0 grams per tonne silver
  • 0.003% copper
  • 0.27% lead
  • 0.10% zinc

Location & Accessibility

The Goldrop property is easily accessible via existing roads and is situated in a well-established mining district with excellent infrastructure, a local workforce, and support services. Its proximity to the currently producing Copper Mountain Mine, approximately 10 kilometers to the east, underscores the region’s ongoing significance in British Columbia’s mining sector.
